Loving husband of Susan and father of Kenneth, Paul, Christopher and Claire. Especially loved and cherished by his mother, along with his 4 sisters and 5 brothers. He was uncle to many and also a great-uncle to many more.
George did not recover from a stroke.
A very loved, fun and comical character. Very well known in his local, also known for his bowling and loved listening to his favourite music by Elvis.

Never forgotten
You were taken away from me 5 years ago and it's not gotten any easier, yes it's easier to accept but it’s not easier that you’re gone. They say times a great healer but how can time ever heal the pain I felt when you left. It doesn't matter what I'm doing I always come back to thinking of you and the urge to just pick up the phone and tell you what’s new my end and to get the gossip from the fleet or just hear your voice for a moment.
It's hard when I catch up with old friends and they ask how you are, it's like I've been winded and that feeling hits me all over again that you’re not here to share my life with anymore.
Dad there's so many things I want to tell you and there are so many things I want to show you, I want to introduce you to my friends and Antony, you’d like him the sort of chap you can take to the pub and just have a talk with. I’d like you to see I finally got round to driving and been travelling those things you wanted for me, I want you to see I’m finally happy and I want to have you tell me everything’s fine that your ankles sort and playing up, that you’ve been pottering about in the shed and dam snow is ruining any chance you had of growing something in the garden. I just wished we'd had more time.
I'll remember the time we have shared because those are precious to me, from me and you doing a runner from paying the bill for the fish and chips we ate, to lying on the bed on a Sunday afternoon listening to the football after a big Sunday roast seeing you jump on the bed when we did score to swearing at the radio in frustration when we let one in – this was more often than needed if you ask me!

One of the fondest memories I have of you, how many 16yr old girl get taken to the Cargo Fleet by her dad and told to drink ladies drink, shocked and appalled I was, you taught me early on to harden up and brought me up with the boys, so what on earth made you think I was going to drink half pints! But I soon taught you, you got so sick of having to get up every 5minutes to refill me you came back with a pint winging about your ankle!! ha ha, I really am your daughter...
Dad, I've done as you asked and not looked back and tried my hardest at everything I’m just so sorry you aren’t around to be proud of me. I and mum spend most Sundays gasping about you with a cuppa and we miss you terribly everyone knows no words can describe it. And you know how we feel as you’re always with us.
I am still angry at you for our broken promise but I know you understand that as you felt the same when your dad passed so I know you understand! I'm just glad you got to see me married - and I know you'll understand the divorce lol.
I miss calling you up to ask how’s the footy going and how the bowls is going and what trophies you’ve won now… I miss coming home to see you and lying their listening to it on the radio cuddling while your having a fag and shouting at the radio.. I even miss you telling me off for my skirts being too short and trying to ground me even though I’m married now! You had some cheek old man!! I know where I get it.
